St. Nicholas Church Glass Crosses

From the Archive: Process Documentation of Installation(s) at St Nicholas Church, 2022

Glass Crosses, Designed for St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine in Lower Manhattan at the World Trade Center.

420 clear lead crystal crosses were installed into the marble doors of the chapel. All individually hand polished - they received a level of care conducive to a small batch production. A collaboration between an ancient stone and a modern casting technique evolved into an installation that seems almost industrial in its repetition. Yet once placed in the glowing marble dome of the church, they become a mesmerizing detail within the National Shrine.
