Feature Wall at Uber Freight Offices
The design and production relied on a tight relationship between complex digital outputs and conventional industrial techniques. With the assistance of long-time collaborator, Bo Rodda(@b0rodda), we were able to engineer a parametric algorithmic Grasshopper script to help us generate that wall at various fidelities. Once the code was developed, it was used to 3D print sand molds to support the aluminum casting process. Directly from a digital file, to a sand mold ready to be cast into. Once the panels were cast, and patinated to mimic the air of bronze, they were considerably easy to install. Matching the placement to the original digital files layout, executing a well realized final installation. The lightweight nature of aluminum benefits the ease of the installation process and its 100% recyclability further supports our mutual mission of sustainability.
