KNOLL Showroom Marquee Screen: A Tribute to Modernist Design
In the heart of Chicago's vibrant West Loop, ChiLab Studio has created a striking architectural sculpture that serves as both a functional marquee and a powerful brand statement for the KNOLL showroom. This bespoke installation seamlessly integrates with the showroom's architecture while paying homage to KNOLL's rich design heritage.
Design and Execution
Vertical Grandeur: Chrome tubes, precisely arranged in a row, soar from the 6th floor to the skylight on the 7th, creating a dramatic vertical presence that draws the eye upward.
Brand Integration: The KNOLL name is spelled out in dark bronze letters, mounted on the chrome tubes. This choice of material creates a visual connection to the 24-foot bronze table that anchors the showroom space.
Material Harmony: The sculpture's chrome and bronze elements complement the warm red marble used in the entryway and central table, creating a cohesive material palette throughout the space.
Artistic Inspiration
The design of this marquee screen pays tribute to the legendary Harry Bertoia, whose groundbreaking work for KNOLL in the 1950s continues to influence modern design
