Hobson Residence Grilles

Eleven decorative grilles with cast and CNC machined spindles, woven bronze mesh, and satin nickel plating.

A residential commission produced for millwork contractor Imperial Woodworking: eleven custom decorative grilles running from an Everest bedroom portal through kitchen, foyer, entry and four master bathroom openings.

The drawings arrived as millwork gaps rather than finished parts, so the work began with 3D modeling. Casting families were built to be reused across assemblies, which kept a large set of unique openings economical.

Spindles were cast in white manganese bronze and machined, set into custom milled frames with woven bronze mesh, then plated satin nickel. A closet makeup mirror assembly was added to the package as the job developed.
